Developer alleges police assault

A REAL estate developer Kingsley Obiukwu has accused policemen attached to the Lagos Anti-Cultism unit of alleged assault and extortion.
Obiukwu who is a motivational speaker, took to his official Instagram page to narrate how the policemen attacked him at Second Rainbow in front of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) gas station, Amuwo Odofin on Saturday and took the N15,000 cash he had.
According to him, he was just walking pass when a man in plainclothes accosted him and grabbed his shirt.
Obiukwu said his attacker addressed himself as a policeman and demanded he should follow him to a white bus without registration number.
The Nation reports that Obiukwu’s complaint is one of numerous by Nigerians plying that route who have fallen victim to unscrupulous policemen who operate in similar manner within Amuwo Odofin.
He said he brought out his phone to start a live video on what was happening but three other armed men joined them and they started pushing him towards the white bus with no plate number.
Obiukwu said the eventually overpowered him and pushed him to their waiting vehicle in which he saw more men.
Police spokesman Bala Elkana urged the victim to come forward with facts that would aid the command in fishing the suspects for deserved punishment.
He assured that the case would be properly investigated and those involved sanctioned.
